Byun Sangil Wins 5th Crown Haitai Cup

The 5th Crown Haitai Cup was won by Byun Sangil 9p after winning the third match of the finals. The first match in the best of three was won by his opponent Han Seungjoo, also a 9 dan professional. After Byun Sangil managed to win the second game, it was a tie, and the optional third game was played on the 27th of January. It’s the first time Byun Sangil managed to win this title, after participating in all previous editions of the tournament.

The Crown Haitai, is a “rookie” tournament, where only players under the age of 25 are allowed to play, as the definition of born after 1996 was used, it actually happened that Han Seungjoo already turned 26 before the finals were played. As Byun Sangil already is 25 this will probably be the second to last time he participates.
